In celebration of the March run of Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Capitol Theatre, KUTV and Broadway Across America are sponsoring the 3rd annual drama competition for junior high and high school students in Utah.

To enter the contest, groups of students should videotape their interpretation of a 3-5 minute scene from Beauty and the Beast.  The script and lyrics of the scene should not be changed, and the video must be G- or PG-rated.

Videos must be submitted at www.studentdramacontest.com by March 4.  Voting at the same website will last from March 5 to March 11.  Winners will then be selected on March 16 and will appear on KUTV the following week.

The entrants with the most votes on the website will receive tickets to Beauty and the Beast as well as cash to be divided among the students and their Drama Departments. The first place prize is 15 tickets and $2500, the second place prize is 10 tickets and $1500, and the third place prize is 5 tickets and $1000.

The winners of 2011's Mary Poppins competition were: Canyon View Junior High School (first), American Fork High School (second), Lone Peak High School (third), and Dixie High school (jury award).

The winners of 2010's Legally Blonde competition were: American Fork High School (first), Pleasant Grove High School (second), and Stansbury High School (third).

The NETworks tour of Disney's Beauty and the Beast will play at the Capitol Theatre March 20-25, 2012.  Tickets are available through ArtTix by calling the box office at 1-888-451-ARTS (2787) or at www.arttix.org
