By:

Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company presents FOUR September 20-22, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 West Broadway, Salt Lake City. This first show of the Ririe-Woodbury’s 49th season masterfully combines audience favorites and restaging of groundbreaking works creating a performance with something that everyone can enjoy.

“50 Years,” (1996) by nationally renowned performance artist and choreographer, Ann Carlson, is an innovative take on the passage of time according to the perceptual calculations on the tribe. Carlson, currently an artist in residence at Stanford University, has gained notoriety and received multiple awards for her work, including a 2010 American Masters Award. ? Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Ririe-Woodbury’s Artistic Director, will also premiere “The Finish Line,” her exciting new work inspired by the ultimate run – the journey through a relationship.?? “Lines to Read Between,” (2005) is Australian John Utans’ investigation of the ideas of images and landscapes. The work uniquely uses images on TV screens throughout the stage as a striking set for the work.

Charlotte Boye-Christensen’s award-winning dance, Turf,” (2009) surrounds the idea of territorialism and how men and women approach the idea of space differently, is presented on the heels of its successful showcase at The Rose Exposed. “GRID” (2011) by New York choreographer Brook Notary, has quickly become an audience favorite at Ririe-Woodbury, brilliantly juxtaposing complex dance structures and a strikingly simple stage setting culminating in a sensational work that leaves the audience astounded.

FOUR also marks the first season performance of dancer Mary Lyn Graves, who joins the company from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she danced with Tulsa Ballet. ? Season tickets are still available at ririewoodbury.com for just $75 for first time subscribers, $85 for renewal tickets, and just $52 for students with ID and seniors.  Individual tickets are on sale now for $30 for general public and $15 for students & seniors at ArtTix.org or by calling 801-355-ARTS.?
