RDT and Utah Film Center present MR. GAGA at the Rose Wagner, 9/20. ImageRepertory Dance Theatre, the nation's premiere modern dance repertory company, is excited to partner with Utah Film Center to present the showing of "Mr. Gaga," a film about the director of Batsheva Dance Company and the innovative mind behind the Gaga Movement Language, on September 20 at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

Ohad Naharin, artistic director of the Batsheva Dance Company, is regarded as one of the most important choreographers in the world. Meeting him at a critical turning point in his personal life, this spirited and insightful documentary will introduce you to a man with great artistic integrity and an extraordinary vision.

RDT is excited to present this extraordinary film after working with two of Mr. Naharin's disciples who have set works on the Company. In 2014, RDT commissioned Noa Zuk to create "By the Snake." Noa Zuk danced with the Batsheva Dance Company for nine years under the direction of Ohad Naharin, and is an internationally renowned teacher of the Gaga movement language.

RDT will perform "By the Snake" before the showing of the film at the Rose Wagner. Afterward, Linda C. Smith will sit down in a Q & A session facilitated by RadioWest's Doug Fabrizio.

As Zuk stated about her choreography, "Gaga ... is not a style, certainly not a choreographic style, but a lot of its inherent values are probably also embedded in the work."

RDT has also recently worked with Danielle Agami of ate9 dANCE cOMPANY in Los Angeles. Agami danced with Batsheva Dance Company from 2005-2010 until she started her own company. RDT commissioned Agami to create "Theatre" in 2016 after a two-week residency in Salt Lake City with her company members.

The movie is subtitled : A True Story of Love & Dance" and is thrilling for both dance enthusiasts and the general public. Variety called it "Electric . . . riveting . . . Choreographic brilliance . . . excellent." Utah Film Center's September Through the Lens is presented in partnership with KUER, RadioWest and Repertory Dance Theatre.
