PTC Announces Auditions for HAMLET And DRACULAR 5/20

Pioneer Theatre Company announces local auditions for their productions of both HAMLET and DRACULA. Auditions for both shows will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Callbacks are scheduled for Friday, May 21, 2010. Exact callback times will be announced to auditioners.

AEA-only auditions will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, but AEA members may sign up for any time slot. Non-AEA auditioners may audition from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on that same date.

AEA (Equity) members may email ElizaBeth Williamson beginning May 13, 2010 to sign up for a time slot. This service is available only to AEA members; non-AEA auditioners must come in and sign up for an audition time slot on the board inside Room 325 at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. The sign-up sheet will be posted by noon on Thursday, May 13, 2010. AEA members may email ElizaBeth Williamson at elizabeth.williamson@ptc.utah.edu only after May 13, 2010.

Auditions will be held in Room 237 at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. For the HAMLET audition, actors must prepare a monologue from Shakespeare; monologues should be no longer than 3 minutes. Scripts and sides for HAMLET will NOT be provided for this audition.

Actors auditioning for DRACULA will be asked to read from the script. Scripts and audition sides for DRACULA will be available for checkout from the PTC Business Office (Room 325) on Thursday, May 13, 2010. DRACULA scripts may be checked out on an overnight basis from the Theatre Offices located in Room 325 at Simmons PMT.

A photo and resume are recommended.

Rehearsal dates for the production of HAMLET are Monday, August 23, 2010 through Thursday, September 16, 2010. HAMLET production dates are Friday, September 17, 2010 through Saturday, October 2, 2010.

Rehearsal dates for the production of DRACULA are Monday, September 27, 2010 through Thursday, October 21, 2010. DRACULA production dates are Friday, October 22, 2010 through Saturday, November 6, 2010.

PTC Artistic Director Charles Morey will direct both productions. All roles in both HAMLET and DRACULA are open. There are roles in HAMLET for 13 men and 3 women. In the cast of DRACULA there are roles for 8 men and 6 women. All auditioners must be 18 years of age or older.
