Rob Lowe hit the stage of the Eccles Theater on Friday, September 29, 2017 in a brand new one-man show entitled STORIES I ONLY TELL MY FRIENDS: LIVE! The star of movies such as THE OUTSIDERS and TOMMY BOY, television dramas such as THE WEST WING and BROTHERS AND SISTERS, and television comedies such as PARKS AND RECREATION and THE GRINDER, proves to be as personable and charismatic of a presence onstage as he is onscreen.

After the performance begins with a series of clips showcasing Lowe's impressive range and far-reaching career of eclectic dramatic and comedic projects, the man himself appears onstage. He opens himself up in an honest, personal look at his private and professional life and how he's reached where he is today.

Being only the second performance of the show following its debut in Phoenix, Lowe admitted that it is still a work in progress. It is true that some bits feel more polished than others, not fitting as seamlessly as they could. However, for the most part the show is in excellent shape. Most stories are intensely interesting and are woven together with the others in unexpected, entertaining ways.

The humor is first class, with the jokes and funny anecdotes keeping the audiences in stitches for most of the night. Much of the credit must go to Lowe's smart self-deprecating manner and great comic timing.

Projections of photographs and video clips from Lowe's personal archives add enjoyment to the stories he tells. The highlight is a super 8 movie made in his teenage years by himself, his brother Chad (PRETTY LITTLE LIARS), and his friend Charlie Sheen in Martin Sheen's back yard.

The evening wrapped up with a warm, friendly Q&A session in which Lowe interacted with his fans and provided nuggets of information that supplemented and complemented the show that had preceded it.

A love letter to his fans and a polished performance that would be thoroughly enjoyed by anyone interested in the inner workings of Hollywood, STORIES I ONLY TELL MY FRIENDS: LIVE! is a fulfilling one-man show that deserves to be seen in many more cities across the country.

The Live at the Eccles series brings well-known names in music, dance, comedy, and the spoken word to the new Eccles Theater. For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.live-at-the-eccles.com.
