Located in Provo's Provo Towne Centre, An Other Theater Company (AOTC) has set out to not only bring high quality theater to Utah Valley, but also bring under-produced productions and underrepresented themes, playwrights, and characters to the valley.

The company's mission for diversity and inclusiveness stems all the way to their season selection requirements. "Our season selection will have certain requirements each year.

Because women playwrights are a very under-represented group within theatre, we are committed to producing at least three shows per season by a female playwright. We also will have at least two plays per season with LGBTQ+ themes and/or main characters as well as at least one play by an LGBTQ+ playwright. Further, all of our shows will seek to promote our mission statement of: An Other Theater Company strives to create theatrical pieces of art that are unique, fresh, empathetic, and inclusive".

Their inaugural production will be Christopher Durang's, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and will be directed by AOTC co-founder and Artistic Director, Kacey Spadafora. It will star Brett Merritt as Vanya, Cathy Ostler as Sonia, Brooke Wilkins as Masha, Tyler Fox as Spike, Kaitlin Lemon as Nina, and Kiersten Zundel as Cassandra.

"I've never laughed so hard and so consistently during rehearsals as I have with this show. The cast is brilliant and they all keep finding new ways to make me ugly-laugh," Spadafora says. "Christopher Durang's script is simply brilliant. He weaves genuine heartache and pain so intricately into comedy that you hardly notice it's there, until it suddenly crashes into you like a wave and you empathize so deeply with each of these characters that have been making you laugh for an hour-and-a-half."

Show Description: Vanya and Sonia have never left the confines of their childhood home in Bucks County, PA, while their sister Masha has been gallivanting around the world as a successful actress. A surprise visit from Masha and her 20-something boy toy, Spike, throws the normally quiet household into utter upheaval as its residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret, and the sudden possibility of escape.

Tickets for Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike are on sale now on their company website AnOtherTheater.org and will run Friday and Saturday nights, September 15 - October 14, 2017, as well as Thursday October 5th and 12th, 2017 at 7:30 P.M.
