Richard Skipper stars in an interactive evening of songs, stories, and surprises at Maureen's Jazz Cellar, Saturday, April 25 at at 8:00 PM (doors open 7:00 PM). With musical director Michael McAssey on piano, the show features special guest Diane J. Findlay. The event marks Skipper’s latest installment of Richard Skipper Celebrates!, the ongoing live series spotlighting the people, places, and moments that shape the performing arts. Blending heartfelt conversation, musical celebration, and spontaneous connection, Richard Skipper Celebrates! is an experience unlike any other—a mix of cabaret, conversation, and community. Known for his charisma, wit, and ability to make audiences feel part of the story, Skipper invites audiences to rediscover the joy of live entertainment through shared humanity and humor. “Every show is different because every audience is different,” Skipper says. “It’s about the energy in the room. You never know who might show up—and what might happen!”

A longtime champion of the cabaret and theatre community, Skipper has interviewed and celebrated hundreds of performers through his live shows, streaming series, and podcast Richard Skipper Celebrates! His previous appearances in NYC at The Laurie Beechman Theatre, 54 Below, The Green Room 42, and Revolution Stage Company in Palm Springs have earned enthusiastic acclaim from audiences and peers alike.

Richard Skipper is an award-winning entertainer, storyteller, and legacy artist whose career spans more than 46 years. Best known for his celebrated tributes to "Hello, Dolly!" and his longtime friendship with Carol Channing, Richard has performed across the U.S. and the U.K., bringing joy, insight, and spontaneity to every stage he graces. A former impersonator turned truth-teller, Richard now blends memoir, music, and audience connection into one-of-a-kind live experiences. His current work is less about “performing” and more about hosting the room — inviting audiences into something honest, unscripted, and unforgettable. Diane J. Findlay is an extraordinary performer on stage, film and TV, as well as a concert and nightclub performer and recording artist. She starred in "Du Barry was a Lady" with Danny DeVito, "Mame" as Vera with Sandy Duncan, "Fish in the Dark" as Rose with Jason Alexander, "70 Girls 70," Encore with Olympia Dukakis, "Odd Couple" with Fannie Flagg, Amazon Series "Dead Ringers" as Cynthia James with Rachael Weisz and Michael McKean, and the Indie Short Film "Ball & Vase" as Jean Coleman with Austin Pendleton. She has had the pleasure of being directed by Kathleen Marshall, Jerry Herman, The Coen Brothers, Jerry Zaks, Casey Nicholaw, Susan Stroman and Christopher Ashley. Michael McAssey
Musical Director/Pianist
Michael McAssey made his Broadway debut in the ill-fated musical LATE NITE COMIC. In New York he’s worked on and Off-Broadway (A HARD TIME TO BE SINGLE, SEX TIPS FOR MODERN GIRLS, IN GAY COMPANY & more) and at Lincoln Center. He co-starred as Herbie in GYPSY (with Sally Mayes), Hucklebee in THE FANTASTICKS, Man 1 in Sondheim’s PUTTING IT TOGETHER, Edna Turnblad in 2 companies of HAIRSPRAY, and as Max Bialystock in 3 different companies of Mel Brooks’ THE PRODUCERS. In Chicago Michael starred in the hit comedy SHEAR MADNESS, co-starred as Banjo in THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER (with Andre de Shields) and as Guy Proclo in Terrence McNally’s THE RITZ (with Transparent’s Alexandra Billings). Soap fans may remember Michael as blind pianist-singer George Baldwin on CBS-TV’s GUIDING LIGHT. He appeared with Barbara Cook and Patti LuPone in Paris and toured with Ms. LuPone in her nightclub act, THE ARGENTINA TURNER REVUE. An accomplished conductor & music director as well, Michael divides his time between onstage and off including conducting the Broadway National Tours of AVENUE Q and TITANIC: THE MUSICAL, and the smash hit 2016 summer tour of PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT.
