WBT Hosts THE CAB CALLOWAY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS 10/5

On Tuesday, October 5, 2010, The Westchester Broadway Theatre will again, be hosting the annual Cab Calloway Lifetime Achievement Awards for 2010. Cab Calloway was a resident of Elmsford, N.Y. for approximately 34 years. His career spanned over six decades and was highlighted by his work on stage, film, television and in the recording industry. The Cab Calloway Lifetime Achievement Awards are meant to honor his commitment to excellence in the performing arts as well as his dedication and support for young, rising talent. It is an honor that the award bears his name.

The recipients are recognized for their body of work, dedication and contribution to some aspect of the performing arts in Westchester County. The criteria for consideration include some specific guidelines. Since the award is for "Lifetime achievement", the individual should be of sufficient age to warrant such an honor. The individual must have made some significant contribution to the performing arts. This criterion can cover performers, educators, entrepreneurs, technicians, designers, producers, directors, choreographers, composers, librettists, conductors, actors, dancers, mentors or even individuals who, through their continuous support, have had a positive effect on some aspect of the performing arts in Westchester. Recipients are chosen by an advisory panel from names submitted by any of the following: The Cab Calloway Foundation, previous recipients of the award, or individuals who know a person worthy of the honor. The awards were established by George Puello in 2001.

The Special Guest Presenter will be the extraordinary Christine Pedi, one of New York's favorite performers, an accomplished actress, singer and satirist who has appeared repeatedly in Forbidden Broadway, among many other shows. She hosts THE BROADWAY BREAKFAST daily on SIRIUS/XM RADIO where she plays the music of the stage & screen and interviews show biz legends.

Guest Appearances by: George Croom,Carol Arrucci, The Jordi Choir, Barbara Doss, Fa Tye, Shontay Richardson, Jason Spoor, Kenny Ross, Dorina DiLullo, The Lighthouse Youth Theatre Ensemble. And a brief Memorial tribute to Glenn Herndon.

THE 2010 HONOREES ARE:
Laurence S. Baker, PhD, Dr. Larry Baker, Founder and Producer of The Theatre Place in Pleasantville many years ago. He was also the President of the Theatre Association of New York State and was actively involved with the former Pleasantville Music Theatre as a Board Member, Producer, and more! (Pleasantville)
Kathy Beaver , A Professional Violinist and a Musical Director for many regional, community and educational theatres throughout Westchester. (Cortlandt Manor)

Quentin Beaver, (Kathy's father) was an Actor, Director and Producer. He was the Executive Director and Producer of the Fort Salem Theatre. (Of Yonkers and Fort Salem, NY)

Doug Cronk , is an Educator who dedicated his time and talent to developing the White Plains High School Performing Arts program (Tarrytown)

Joan Hansen and Phyllis Padow-Sederbaum are Board Members of the Armonk Players and an integral part of the technical department. (Armonk & Mt Kisco resrectively.)

Helen Ringeisen , and *Berthold Ringeisen founded the Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory and were responsible for the successful restoration of the Tarrytown Music Hall. The Music Hall is now a venue that features performers from around the nation and the world as well as many local groups. Berthold will be honored posthumously. (Tarrytown)

Chloe Sasson , a Musical Director, teacher, Conductor and Musician with Theatrical groups throughout Westchester. (Mt Kisco)

*Phil Sasson , (Chloe's husband) will be honored posthumously. He will be remembered as a gifted musician and a familiar member of bands and orchestras throughout the area.

Jeff Schlotman, A versatile Leading Man and Character Actor (and a Dentist!) throughout the region having appeared in over 200 productions since he got his start as a young lad with the Stepinac Alumni Theatre.(Pleasantville)

Noreen (Noni) Tocantins Kelly, Producer Noreen was a long time member of the Chappaqua Drama Group and was actively involved in every aspect of theatre from costumes and scenery to props and advertising. (Chappaqua, Brewster , Mass.)

Nina Tocantins (Noni"s daughter) is a dance instructor and choreographer with numerous dance and theatrical companies in Westchester. (Chappaqua)

Lili Windsor (Winzig) An accomplished opera singer who has appeared in concert halls and opera houses throughout the world. (Hawthorne)
