Theatre By The Sea owner and producer Bill Hanney, Producing Artistic Director Amiee Turner and Managing Producer Joel Kipper are proud to continue Theatre By The Sea's 2009 Children's Festival with Dance, Dance, Dance presented by the Okra Dance Company on Friday, July 31, 2009.
Take a multicultural tour of Africa, Poland, Asia, Israel the Caribbean and other nations around the world through the social dances that reflect each culture. Okra Dance Company performs the African Yembala, Chinese Sword Dance, Israeli Dodi-Li, Tango, Polka, Waltz, Jitterbug and more in a fast-paced, colorful production.Created by the late dancer/choreographer Phillip Bond, The Okra Dance Company is currently run by Ron McKay and Mickey Davidson. The troupe's dancers are both accomplished professional dancers and experienced teachers, whose vast experience includes Broadway, touring theatre, and well-known dance companies around the country. The dancers are equally adept at performing tribal dances from Africa, social dances from around the world, American tap dance, and Broadway dances of today. All programs are highlighted with humor and audience participation. At the end of each show, audience members have an opportunity to try some dance movements themselves.Videos
