ROUNDING THIRD Opens 6/3 at Ocean State Theatre

By:
Ocean State Theatre Company (OSTC), which recently completed its third season in its state-of-the-art theatre in Warwick, is proud to open their summer season on June 3 with Richard Dresser's hilarious and touching comedy Rounding Third.

Don is the tough, blue-collar, win-at-all-costs coach whose son is the star pitcher. Michael is a newcomer, corporate-exec who agrees to be Don's assistant to be closer to his son, who's never played baseball before. Don thinks a coach should be teaching the kids how to win. Michael believes coaches should shield the kids from the intense pressure of competition, while making sure everyone has a good time. Over the course of exhilarating victories, heartbreaking defeats, and interminable rain-outs, the two men battle over how to lead the team. .

Directed by Producing Artistic Director Amiee Turner, who returns to the helm after directing this season's productions of My Fair Lady, Dial M for Murder, and The Meeting, the cast includes Trinity Repertory Company's Fred Sullivan, Jr., who won rave reviews for his star turn as Max in last season's critically acclaimed production of Neil Simon's Laughter on the 23rd Floor. He will be joined by OSTC's Managing Producer Joel Kipper, who returns to the OST stage following appearances as George M. Cohan in George M! (2008) and Malcolm in The Full Monty (2010), both down at "the barn," and as Michael in Lombardi (2013) in Warwick.

Rounding Third will be presented at Ocean State Theatre from June 3 - 21. Previews are scheduled for Wednesday, June 3 at 7:30 pm and Thursday, June 4 at 2:00 and 7:30 pm.
