Newport Folk Festival and Carefusion Newport Jazz Festival Set For Summer 2010

According to Newport Now, "The dates for the 2010 Newport Folk Festival and Carefusion Newport Jazz Festival have been set, according to the Newport County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

In a Twitter post yesterday, the NCCVB wrote that next summer's jazz festival will be held on the second weekend of August, the 6th through the 8th.

As is tradition, the Newport Folk Festival will take place the weekend prior, July 30th-Aug. 1st. Those dates were announced on the Folk Festival's website early last month.

While no official announcement has come from jazz festival organizers, GoNewport.com already has the dates posted on their event calendar.

Named in honor of longtime producer George Wein, this past year's festivals dubbed George Wein's Folk Festival 50 and George Wein's Carfusion Jazz Festival 55, garnered rave reviews and brought in the highest attendance in years. It also introduced a new sponsor for the landmark jazz concert. Carefusion, a medical technology company signed on shortly before the event.

That's good news for music fans, who almost went without the popular concerts at Fort Adams this year. Up until the spring, both were in flux after a financial crisis at Festival Network, the company that bought Wein's Festival Productions in 2007 put the fate of the festivals in doubt.

Inquiries to organizers were not immediately returned, and lineups for the festivals have not been released."
