Michael McGrath To Appear At OSTC Fundraiser at Theatre By The Sea 9/25

Ocean State Theatre Company (OSTC), the not-for-profit producing entity at the historic Theatre By The Sea, is thrilled to announce that Broadway's Michael McGrath, currently appearing in Memphis on Broadway (2010 Tony Award for Best Musical), will be joining fellow Theatre By The Sea alumni for OSTC's first fundraising event Beyond the Sea, sponsored by First Trade Union Bank, Amtrak, Liberty Rentals and Porter Airlines, to be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010.

Michael McGrath appeared in numerous productions at Theatre By the Sea from 1977-1991, including Sugar Babies, A Day in Hollywood,/A Night in the Ukraine, Whoopie, Little Me, I Love My Wife, Over Here, Oklahoma!, Grease, and Showboat. Broadway credits include Memphis, Spamalot (Tony Nominee), Swinging on a Star (1996 Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway debut in a leading role), My Favorite Year, Little Me, Anything Goes, Wonderful Town, Is He Dead?, and The Goodbye Girl.

Other alumni from Theatre By The Sea's stellar past who are expected to return to the historic stage for this once-in-a-lifetime event include Tony Award-winner Cady Huffman (The Producers), Broadway's Gary Lynch (Les Miserables), local performer Gloria Jobin, audience favorite Lennie Watts, New York's Jodi Capeless, Broadway performer Martin Sola (Coram Boy, La Boheme, The King and I), Jean Pierre Feragammo, who appeared as Dave in this season's production of The Full Monty, and the Road Show Quartet featuring Jim Berger, Bob O'Connell, Mike Gabriella and WCRI's Mike Maino, who performed as the Rhode Island Ramblers with FourQuest Entertainment's production of The Music Man. Actor and musician Steven Ray Watkins, who appeared in numerous productions at TBTS will return as Music Director.

"In addition to what promises to be a terrific stage show, we are excited to be auctioning off some very unique items," said Amiee Turner, President of Ocean State Theatre Company. "There will be an opportunity to bid for a walk-on role in one of the productions during the 2011 season, local artist Jean Andrews has donated an original watercolor of Theatre By The Sea, and author Don Winslow, best known for his crime and mystery novels, is offering the naming rights for a character in one of his upcoming books."

Beyond the Sea will take place at Theatre By The Sea on Saturday, September 25, 2010. The theatre is located at 364 Cards Pond Road, Matunuck, RI. Tickets are $75 (which includes the champagne hour and performance) and $125 (which includes the champagne hour, performance and VIP after-party).
