Looking for something to do with your kids this summer? Why not introduce them to the magic of live theatre at Theatre By The Sea! The 2012 Children's Festival features a wide variety of performances, which are held on select Fridays in July and August at 10:00 am and 12 noon.

Before or after the show, families are invited to enhance their theatre experience by bringing a picnic lunch to consume on the property, while enjoying the lush seaside gardens maintained by Dana Designs, which contain over 300 varieties of perennials, grasses, shrubs and climbing plants, offering a magical environment for flower lovers of all ages. Refreshments will also be available for purchase at the garden gazebo provided by Bistro by the Sea.

The 2012 Children's Festival Schedule features the following performances:

July 6 - OSTC presents How I Became a Pirate

Melinda Long's best-selling book comes to life in an unforgettable musical adventure filled with wacky pirates and silly songs including "A Good One To Boot," "Green Teeth," "I'm Really Just a Sensitive Guy," "You've Got to Talk Like a Pirate," "Pirates Dot Aaargh!," and many others.

July 13 – PBS Kids' SteveSongs

Back by popular demand! Join PBS' Mr. Steve for a high-energy, interactive musical journey. Steve's music is a unique blend of clever lyrics, educational themes, pure silliness and true musical talent that appeals to parents as much as it does to kids. Steve will be playing PBS KIDS favorites along with rockin' hits from his five award-winning CDs.

July 27 – Post Comedy Theatre presents The One-Man Variety Show

As seen on "The Today Show." Actor, mime, puppeteer, juggler, ventriloquist, standup comedian, and improvising whirling dervish are only some of the words that describe the Award-winning physical comedian, Robert Post. His one-man variety show is a hilarious mix of unforgettable characters that's fun for all ages!

August 3 - Camp OSTC presents Honk! Jr.

This contemporary musical retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling, features Ugly, the odd and gawky looking duckling, who is rejected by everyone except his mother, Ida; a sly tomcat, who wants to eat the duckling; and other barnyard creatures. This captivating family-friendly musical will be performed by OSTC camp kids.

August 10 - Crabgrass Puppet Theatre presents Jack and the Beanstalk

Sent to the market to sell his old cow, Jack returns home with a measly handful of beans. Jack is in disgrace until…the beans become a beanstalk, which leads to adventure, and Jack has a chance at fame and fortune. This hilarious retelling of the tallest of tales is full of colorful scenery, exciting puppetry and a delightful musical score.

August 24 - Keith Michael Johnson presents Bubbleology

Returning for the fourth year! As seen on The Discovery Channel. "How do bubbles do that?" That is what this show is all about. The science behind the magic unfolds like a mystery, making this show both educational and unforgettable. You've never seen bubbles like this before...you can learn a lot from a bubble!
