About the Album: 2 CDs with 15 songs and dialogue from the Comic Opera Guild's 2006 performance of the musical comedy with music by Jerome Kern and book by Otto Harbach. The original Broadway production opened at the Globe Theatre on October 15, 1931 and ran for a total of 395 performances. It was a Depression-era hit in a depressed theater economy. The central love story is between a Romanian composer and an American songwriter and the clash of these two cultures, but the score celebrates their ultimate compatibilities.
