Are abortion rights at the top of your mind? With Amy Coney Barretts confirmation hearings dominating the airwaves theyre certainly top of mind for us. Enter Jane Martins 1994 Pulitzer Prize-nominated play KEELY AND DU. The play centers on Keely, a rape victim who becomes pregnant after a sexual assault and is being held captive by an extremist anti-abortion group to prevent her from terminating the pregnancy, and Du, an older woman tasked with guarding her. At odds throughout the play, these two women never-the-less find a way to transcend their circumstances and the ideological differences that separate them. This play doesnt offer a lot of answers but it does ask a lot of questions. So if you feel like grappling with questions about an individuals rights, a community's responsibilities, and the difference between one persons expectations and anothers reality, then this play is for you.
