Raleigh Little Theatre presents its 34th annual production of "Cinderella," directed by Nancy and Rod Rich, running from December 1 - 17. Based on the fairy tale by Charles Perrault, this version from the Prince Street Players is adapted by Jim Eiler. "Cinderella" has been entrancing audiences of all ages for thirty-four years with its spectacles of comedic repertoire and phenomenal character dynamics.

Rod and Nancy Rich have brought forth new design elements and consistent entertainment which has influenced the growth of attendance by 25% over the past four years. "Every year, we like to freshen up the show with something new and special. This year, our Music Director, Joanna Li, is composing a special ballad for Cinderella to sing to her mouse friends. The song will give the audience more insight into Cindy's thoughts, feelings, and her childhood."

The stars of our annual production of "Cinderella" are the Ugly Stepsisters - Henrietta and Gertrude - who are played by two men. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Tim Cherry and Dennis Poole playing those roles. In these 20 years, they've performed 260 times for an audience of over 100,000. Their commitment over 20 years for performances and rehearsals is roughly equal to 1,650 hours, or 68+ days, which they've spent here rather than with their families around the holidays.

On opening night, December 2, $10 of every ticket will go to the Salvation Army of Wake County through a partnership with WRAL's Coats for the Children. These funds help buy warm winter coats and new toys for families in need.

"Cinderella" is sponsored by Coastal Federal Credit Union and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and runs December 1 - 17 in the Cantey V. Sutton Theatre. Tickets for all events at RLT can be purchased by calling the box office (919)-821-3111, Monday through Friday, noon to 5:00 p.m., or by visiting the theatre's website at www.ral??eighlittletheatre.org.
