The National Theatre is the Czech Republic's representative stage. It is one of the symbols of national identity and part of the European cultural space. 's bearer of the national cultural heritage and also space for free artistic creation. 's living artistic organization which understands tradition as a task to constantly new solutions and as an effort to achieve the highest artistic quality. Today the National Theatre consists of four artistic ensembles - opera, drama, ballet and Laterna Magica - and under the artistic management of the theater is one of five houses - the National Theatre, Estates Theatre, the State Opera, the New Stage and Theatre Kolowrat. Artistic opera, drama and ballet select their repertoire not only from the rich classical heritage, but in addition to local authors focus on the creation of the modern world. New Scene repertoire consists of Laterna Magica, drama series and original projects.
