Five Star Crowd Pleasing Musical, Newsies is coming to Portland, Oregon!

Based on the Disney 1992 movie musical, Tony Award Winning musical Newsies is coming to Portland this January 2024! Based on a true story, Newsies centers on Jack Kelly, the charming and compelling newsboy and leader of the gang of boys called “newsies.” When the publishers of the newspapers raise distribution prices, Jack gathers his troops to strike against their poor working conditions and lousy wages. Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Featuring classic songs, “Carrying the Banner,” “King of New York,” and “Santa Fe.” It’s time to seize the day and check out this uplifting musical to conquer your January blues coming to Portland 5’s Brunish Theater in 2024! 

Directed by Metropolitan Performing Arts Artistic Director, Kris Heller, Musical Direction by Alex Trull, and Choreographed by Chynna Rae Shurts, including our talented teen cast: Emerson Skogen as Jack Kelly, Helaina Storaci as Katherine, Noah Tomlinson as Les, Aidan Hefely as Davey, and many more! Featuring outstanding local adult talent, Jeff Ekdahl, Nick D’Ettorre, Xander Marvin, Conner Esteb, Jason Weed, and Pip Kennedy.
