THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE is based on an original improvisational play, C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E, conceived by Rebecca Feldman and performed by The Farm, a New York improvisational comedy troupe. Music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, conception by Rebecca Feldman, and original direction by James Lapine.
This quirky show centers on a middle school spelling bee and chronicles the experiences of six adolescents vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show includes improvisation and the participation of 4 audience members as spellers.
Rob Gretta directs the production with music directed by Oliver Lo.
