Making Art Work is a new speaker series at Pittsburgh Public Theater that aims to transform regional theater through innovative discussions and exchanges of ideas. The series launches on October 14 with Mark Valdez, artistic director of Minneapolis’ Mixed Blood Theatre, who will engage in a conversation moderated by Sarah Ashley Cain, Pittsburgh Public Theater's associate artistic director. Valdez's work is centered around equity and community engagement in theater, embodying principles of belonging and radical hospitality. The series will continue throughout the fall and winter, featuring notable figures in the theater industry to explore pressing themes and practices.
