The REP to Open 2014-15 Season with OF MICE AND MEN, 9/4-21

The REP, Point Park University's professional theatre company, opens its 2014-2015 season with Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck's timeless and heartwrenching tale of two migrant workers in the Great Depression.

Directed by Robert A. Miller, Of Mice and Men previews on Thursday, Sept. 4, and runs Sept. 5-21, in the Rauh Theatre at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, 222 Craft Ave. Performances are 8 p.m., Thursday - Saturday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets range from $24 to $27; preview tickets are $15. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Pittsburgh Playhouse box office at 412.392.8000, or online at www.pittsburghplayhouse.com. Patrons can take advantage of the "Pay what you will" performances at the 2 p.m. shows on Saturday, Sept. 6, 13 and 20, subject to availability.

The REP's Talkback series, where the audience is invited to stay after the performance and discuss the show, will be held after the 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The REP's production of Of Mice and Men features Jarrod DiGiorgi as George, Leandro Cano as Lennie, John McManus as Candy, Philip Winters as the Boss, Luke Halferty as Curley, Erin Krom as Curley's wife, David Whalen as Slim, Weston Blakesley as Carlson, Justin Fortunato as Whit and Tommy LaFitte as Crooks. Scenic design is by Britton Mauk, lighting design by Lloyd Sobel, sound design by Steve Shapiro, and costume design by Michael Montgomery. Mark Staley is the fight choreographer. Alicia DiGiorgi is the stage manager.

Robert A. Miller has served as a Distinguished Master Artist in Residence at the Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts since 2009. An acclaimed Hollywood producer, director and screenwriter, he is best known for producing The Crucible, nominated for two Academy Awards and featuring Daniel Day-Lewis, Winona Ryder, Joan Allen and Paul Scofield. Miller also produced Focus, starring William H. Macy, Laura Dern and David Paymer. His directorial credits include Company of Angels in Hollywood, and Bend in the River, a live PBS broadcast featuring Ken Kesey. Miller has directed several plays for The REP, including his first-ever production of his father's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Death of a Salesman in 2008. He also directed The REP's world premieres of The Umbrella Man in 2010 and A Child's Guide to Heresy in 2011, and is a producer of the movie, The Umbrella Man, filmed in 2012 in Pittsburgh and Dallas. Most recently, he directed The REP's production of Arthur Miller's All My Sons in September 2013.
