The Golden Dragon Acrobats Perform at the Byham Theater, 3/13
"The impossible can be achieved, and once achieved surpassed, then surpassed again," raves the Associated Press. Direct from Cangzhou, Hebei province in China, the Golden Dragon Acrobats represent the best of a time honored tradition that began more than 27 centuries ago. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust presents Golden Dragon Acrobats, for only two performances at the Byham Theater on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 2pm and 8pm. Cohen & Grigsby is the lead sponsor of the Trust Presents series.
With performers trained in the rigorous art of acrobatics since early youth, Golden Dragon Acrobats, founded by producer and director Danny Chang, has garnered international acclaim, and has been presented with several major awards over the company's history including the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) "Entertainer of the Year" award and the Campus Activities Today's "Performer of the Year" award. Since 1978, the troupe has traveled to all 50 states and to over 65 countries on five continents. The program will feature an exciting line up of acrobatic artistry such as Thousand Hands Dance, Lion Dance, Tower of Chairs and Bicycle Family, among many more not to be missed! The ancient art of Chinese Acrobats is an old and long running tradition that began in China more than two thousand years ago. Over its long and rich history it has developed as one of the most popular art forms among the Chinese people. The citizens of China continue to present their acrobatic art to the world today, hoping to portray the hard working nature of their people and the rich traditions of the Chinese culture.
