Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School has announced its program offerings for summer 2018. Registration is open to any student 18 months to 16 years of age for programs that take place June through August. The classes and workshops consist of weekly and week-long options with themes, such as Move with Mozart, variations, hair and makeup and more. PBT School is segmented into various divisions based on age and skill level. Registration information and additional details are available at www.pbt.org/summerprograms.

Children's Division (Ages 18 mo. - 7 years)

Children can begin dancing as early as 18 months of age in PBT School's Children's Division, which offers classes ranging from Grown up & Me to Pre-ballet. New Children's Division students should enroll in an age-appropriate class, based on the child's age as of Sept. 1, 2017. Parents will be notified if the student should attend a higher or lower level for skill development. As they explore the foundations of dance, students exercise both their bodies and imaginations under the guidance of instructors who specialize in early childhood education. Student Division (Ages 7 years and up)

Students ages 7 years and up, or students who have previous experience in ballet foundations classes, will find many week-long, beginning to intermediate and themed workshop opportunities.. A Move with Mozart workshop, inspired by PBT's 2018-2019 Season opener "Mozart in Motion," will be set to the playful and imaginative compositions of Mozart. Placement forms and trial classes are required for new students.

PBT School will host a Student Division Audition on April 22, at PBT Studios, 2900 Liberty Ave., to give new students the chance to be placed for summer programs or the 2018/19 school year. Students can pre-register online to reserve their spot. About Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School Under the direction of PBT Artistic Director Terrence S. Orr and School Co-directors Marjorie Grundvig and Dennis Marshall, PBT School provides a diverse dance curriculum to more than 1,200 students annually across its Children's, Student, Pre-Professional and Community divisions. Ranging from pre-ballet to pre-professional, PBT School fosters the expression, discipline and joy of ballet at every level and cultivates the next generation of professional dancers. As an integral part of their training experience, students enjoy daily exposure to the professional company and a range of performance opportunities in student and company productions in downtown Pittsburgh. PBT School's bright, air-conditioned facility is located in Pittsburgh's Strip District, just 1.5 miles from the heart of downtown. It features seven spacious studios with sprung Harlequin floors. Live music accompanies all summer classes.
