Harrisburg Superstar 2010 Competition Announced

For anyone who wants a shot at making their dream come true, Theatre Harrisburg has announced its 6th annual Harrisburg Superstar competition for singers in the Central Pennsylvania community. Held live on-stage at the Whitaker Center's extraordinary Sunoco Performance Theatre, this event will offer one talented individual the opportunity to be crownEd Harrisburg Superstar 2009 and win a $2,000 first prize. There will also be $1,000 and $500 prizes for second and third place winners.

Open Call will be held uptown at Theatre Harrisburg's Krevsky Production Center on Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. All singers are encouraged to participate and should be prepared to sing an unaccompanied song of their choosing, 90 seconds or less in duration, before a panel of three talented judges. The top 25 contestants will progress to the Semi-Finals on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. during which they will sing before the judging panel and an enthusiastic audience. Approximately 12 finalists are then selected to participate in the Finals on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. The judges, with the help of the audience, will then select the top winners. Both the Semi-Finals and Finals will be held at the Whitaker Center in downtown Harrisburg.

Contestants must be at least 16 years old to register (no groups or professionals please). Contestants may register in advance at the Theatre Harrisburg office, 513 Hurlock Street, Harrisburg, PA or on the day of the Open Call at the Krevksy Production Center.
