GAMES OF THE MIND to Continue Throughline Theatre's Sixth Season, 9/11-19

By: Aug. 28, 2015

Ten years after winning the Scholastic Scrimmage for Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrows High School, the hastily assembled team is thrown together again for the first time at their class reunion. A decade's worth of neuroses, betrayal, and sexual confusion come to a head as the estranged teammates struggle to find their path to the future and discover the machinations that brought about their miraculous victory back in high school.

Winner of Throughline Theatre's second annual New Play Competition, GAMES OF THE MIND is the latest show from prolific, award-winning local playwright, F.J. Hartland. Utilizing many of the comedic tropes and archetypes of farce, Hartland examines obsession, identity, and madness through the lens of never-ending high school drama.

GAMES OF THE MIND is the third installment in Throughline Theatre's sixth season, following a landmark year that included a simultaneous production of Angels in America Parts 1 & 2, as well as a reimagining of Everyman that the Pittsburgh City Paper called "ambitiously stunning" and "brilliantly rendered." The Company's sixth throughline is "Method in Madness," highlighting plays that blur the distinction between reason and insanity.

Throughline Theatre Company's four-show season focuses on the relationship between past, present, and future by presenting plays from varied time periods and arranging them to highlight their thematic and stylistic similarities.

GAMES OF THE MIND opens Friday, September 11 and runs until Saturday, September 19. The opening night performance will be followed by a reception where food and drinks will be provided and audience members can meet the cast. Thursday and Friday performances start at 8pm, Saturday performances at 2pm and 8pm. Tickets are $20 general admission or $15 for students and seniors. Tickets for the Opening Night Reception are an additional $10. Tickets are available at the door or in advance online at throughline.showclix.com. The 2pm performance on Saturday, September 12 will feature cash-only pay-what-you-can seating; tickets will be available at the box office only and are first come, first served.
