Dramatists Guild and City Theatre to Present IN THEIR OWN VOICES 11/14

By: Nov. 12, 2016

The Dramatists Guild joins City Theatre to present In Their Own Voices, Monday November 14 at 6 p.m. For the second year, through the collaboration of Dramatists Guild Regional Representative, Gab Cody and City Theatre's Director of New Play Development, Clare Drobot, the organizations are cohosting this unique night of theater. The evening includes a networking hour with light refreshments in the City Theatre lobby, followed by twelve Pittsburgh-based playwrights reading excerpts of their new works in the Hamburg Studio Theatre.

"Playwrights rarely have an opportunity to read their own work for an audience, playing all the characters and conveying their intent without the mediation of director or interpretation of actors. The history of playwrights reading their work aloud stretches back to the beginning of theater and is still a tradition carried on today" said organizer and Pittsburgh Regional Representative Gab Cody. "For one evening, we'll get a taste of that experience."
