Act II Playhouse Extends THE STORY OF MY LIFE Thru 5/30

By:

Act II Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Bud Martin announced that The Story of My Life, a new musical about friendship, has been extended by a week, to May 30. The Story of My Life - written by Neil Bartram (music and lyrics) and Brian Hill (book) - stars Tony Braithwaite and Jim Stanek.

"Meticulously staged and smoothly rendered by Act II Playhouse in Ambler, it's an unflinching look at long-term friendship - how it happens, why it grows, how it can unravel, and what occurs after that," says Howard Shapiro of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Six performances of Boeing-Boeing have been added to Act II's four-week run: two 2 p.m. matinees on Wednesday, May 28 and Sunday, May 30; and five 8 p.m. performances May 26-30.

The Story of My Life explores the evolution and impact of a friendship that begins in grade school and continues for nearly 30 years. Thomas Weaver (Stanek) is a best-selling, award-winning author, and Alvin Kelby (Braithwaite) is his quirky pal. But time can test the bonds of friendship, and when it does, Thomas calls on the only resource he has - his stories of Alvin - to discover where and why things changed.

"The music and songs are so smart and inspiring, and enjoyable to perform. Plus, the dialogue and music work so well together," said Stanek in a recent interview. "Because of the depth of emotion and detail of the characters involved, I would do this show and only this show for the rest of my career if I could!"

Tickets for Act II's production of The Story of My Life are $25-$35, with discounts for groups of 10 or more and $12 tickets for students, and are available at the Act II Box Office by calling (215) 654-0200; visiting 56 E. Butler Avenue, Ambler, PA; or online at www.act2.org. Honorary Producers for The Story of My Life are the Copernicus Society of America, Merle Holman, and Bernie Siergiej & Anne Dunnington.
