Winnie-the-Pooh may not strap on skates when the CityScape ice rink opens Saturday, November 30, but the roly poly bear and a dozen other characters from the Hundred Acre Wood will be on hand to sing songs from A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail before it opens December 2 at Valley Youth Theatre.

"Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and all their woodland friends will be there," said Bobb Cooper, producing artistic director. "They'll be singing songs from the show, plus some holiday favorites that you can sing-a-long with the cast."

The ice rink will be open for skating from 3 to 11 p.m. with a kids skating performances at 3:30 p.m., the musical performance by Valley Youth Theatre at 5 p.m., and an adult skating performance immediately following the tree lighting ceremony which starts promptly at 6 p.m.

A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail is one of, if not "the" longest-running holiday shows in Phoenix. The 18th annual production runs from December 6 through 23 and has become a must-see tradition for many families.

Cooper has seen more than a dozen Poohs, Piglets, Eeyores and other woodland friends "come and grow" since he came to VYT nearly 18 years ago. Golden Globe nominee Emma Stone is among the local celebrities who appeared Pooh; she played Eeyore twice and Rabbit once.

Tickets are $18.00, plus fees, and available online at VYT.com or by calling the box office at 602.253.8188 x2.
