Prescott Fine Arts Assoc. Presents DIXIE SWIM CLUB, 9/16

By:

The Prescott Fine Arts Association opens it's 2010 - 2011 (41st season) season with the comedy, DIXIE SWIM CLUB written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, directed by PFAA veteran director, Linda Miller.

Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives. The play focuses on four of those weekends, and spans a period of thirty-three years. As their lives unfold, these women increasingly rely on one another, through advice and raucous repartee, to get through the challenges (men, sex, marriage, parenting, divorce, aging) that life flings at them. When fate throws a wrench into one of their lives, these friends, proving the enduring power of teamwork, rally ‘round their own with the strength and love that takes this comedy in a poignant and surprising direction.

Performances for Dixie Swim Club are September 16th, 17th, 18th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. and September 19th & 25th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets are $16 for adults for evening performances and $11 for matinees. Student tickets are $12 for evening performances and $8 for matinees.  Student Rush tickets, sold 30 minutes before curtain to students 18 and younger or with a college ID (under 25), are half price off of the adult ticket and are subject to availability.  Single tickets are also available online at www.pfaa.net and are subject to a per ticket fee. Purchasing tickets online is new this year at PFAA.

Tickets are available through the box office by calling 928-445-3286 or at the box office, 208 N Marina St. Monday thru Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All tickets purchased through the box office are subject to a $1.50 service charge, also new this year.

The cast includes Julie Cargill, Angela Bryan, Kathy Shedd, Kay Anne Riley and Mary Timpany.

The writers are all veterans of stage, screen and television writing, having won numerous awards and acclaim, particularly for many seasons writing for the long-running series, 'The Golden Girls.' Dixie Swim Club can best be described as "Steel Magnolia's meets Same Time, Next Year".
