Perovich Joins B3's A WOMAN ON STAGE Pay-What-You-Can Matinee March 18th

Widely lauded as a director, teacher and playwright, John Perovich will facilitate an unique and exciting discussion following the March 18th matinee of A Woman on Stage.

B3 Artistic Director and A Woman on Stage playwright/director, Ilana Lydia said, "Last season, B3 had the honor of producing John Perovich's my love | my lumberjack, and he's become an indispensable part of the family since. We're going to be putting on his one-act in our Festival of Shorts, coming in May. We are thrilled to have him come facilitate a talk-back about A Woman on Stage, a work which he oversaw in development. His perspective on it is unique. For anyone wanting to experience a different kind of playwriting in the fullest possible way, this discussion will be key."

In order to make the performance available to all interested persons - students and patrons alike - B3 has activated special "pay-what-you-can" pricing for the March 18th performance.

Perovich said, "A theatre audience is a community that comes together in the dark to experience a story. When the show is over, the community disperses and goes its separate ways. I've always found that a bit sad. A discussion after a show offers audiences an opportunity to connect, explore, and interrogate a work. How did the audience experience the play? What stood out from the experience? Which areas of the play are left a bit unclear? Is the ambiguity of the experience exciting? Frustrating? What can we relate to from the story? There are, of course, all kinds of responses. How exciting to be able to share in that discussion with others! I encourage theatre-goers to join us during this special performance to discuss the play. I look forward to facilitating the discussion because Ilana is the kind of writer that provokes an audience - emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually. There is a great deal to discuss and respond to from this play. Also, pay-what-you-can is a great price for admission. Please join us!"

B3 Associate Artistic Director Jeanmarie (Simpson) Bishop said, "What a deal! People can see the show AND engage in a discussion with a couple of Phoenix Theatre greats - John Perovich and Ilana Lydia. There'll be refreshments and a lot of stimulating conversation following a terrific show that is unlike anything we've ever seen in the Valley."

Tickets are also available at standard rates for those who want to guarantee a seat at the exceptional and unique event. Until March 9th, all seats are $10 plus service charge when purchased online. Patrons may use the promo code, WOSADVANCE to get the discount.

A Woman on Stage finds Rachel, a grad student in an archaic field of study, feeling that her annoying roommates are making less and less sense, when a message comes to her through a Man on TV that she isn't real, but a fictional character. Rachel resists grasping the truth, relying on soliloquies and round-robin scene changing to explore her theatrical state.

A Woman on Stage plays at the SIC Sense Theatre March 16-24, with shows Friday and Saturday nights at 8 and the special "pay what you can" student matinee at 2pm March 18th. All other seats are $15 at the door.

The SIC Sense Theatre is located at 1902-9 E. McDowell Rd. Phoenix, Arizona 85006. For more information, visit their website.
