Beowulf Alley Theatre Company announces auditions for its Late Night Theatre, LNT@the Alley. Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 22nd from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the theatre, 11 South 6th Avenue, downtown between Broadway and Congress.
Plot description for I Count Time By How A Body Sways by John Coyle:Taking place after the liberation of France in WWII Roy, an American soldier has to guard Madelaine, a young Frenchwoman. Her crime? Marrying and having a child with a German officer. Roy reluctantly comes to befriend the young woman as they share a dingy cell awaiting her execution.
Roles Needed:Roy (Male): 25-35. Grizzled, world weary, smoker's voice. Has been in the war a long time, but his sense of compassion has taken more of a beating than his body.
Madelaine (Female): 19-29. Young, pretty. Has done questionable things to survive harsh situations, but has retained a certain amount of innocence about her. This part requires a few words of French, and an accent throughout.
Actors will use a cold reading from the play as their audition piece.
Rehearsal dates will decided by the director and cast, but will take place no sooner than 9:30 p.m.
Performances are tentatively set for October 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th.
