Kids Acts Philippines Encourages Families To Watch MULAN, 10/3-5

By: Oct. 01, 2013
Manila, Philippines, October 1, 2013--Children's theater advocate Kids Acts Philippines presents its musical adaptation of "Mulan," based on the Chinese poem "The Ballad of Mulan," featuring music by Eugene Belbis, and book and lyrics by Luigi Nacario, at Star Theater, Star City Compound, Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex, Pasay City from Thursday, October 3 to Saturday, October 5.

Fearless and determined, Mulan's story happens during the sixth-century Chinese dynasty, where the Chinese are defending themselves against nomadic people the Huns. The Emperor of China asks able-bodied men from various households to battle with the dynasty's newfound enemies. Too old and sick to join the war, Mulan's father is faced with the dilemma of being unable to send someone in his place. However, dutiful daughter Mulan, disguised as a man, steps forward to serve in the army to take over her father's slot.

Unlike the more popular Disney animated movie version of "Mulan," where Tony winner Lea Salonga recorded the titular character's singing voice, and Disney Theatrical Group's "Mulan Jr.," Kids Acts Philippines' take on "Mulan" explores the points of view of the protagonist's siblings as its distinction.

The production features actors Gian Gloria, Pam Gumabon, Diana Alfere, Mary Anne Plamenio, Agnes Sarreal, Ces Dela Cruz, Hyacinth Leonado, Angel Yu, Shanelle Comia, Zscharmaine Barretto, Jay Pangilinan, Derrick Gozos, Terence Guillermo, Jose Herrera, Kendrick Ibasco, Rupert Alvarez, Dusty Suarez, Michael Fernandez, Raul De Guzman, Noel Comia, Dustin Guiao and VJ Parreno.

Kids Acts Philippines vouches for its productions' great entertainment value for families.
