Blue Repertory, one of Ateneo de Manila University's (ADMU) campus-based theatre organizations, closes its 19th season with the classic "American tribal love-rock" Broadway show "Hair".  The musical runs from Wednesday, February 9 to Saturday, February 19, 2011, 8 p.m. (performances at 2 p.m. on February 12 & 19 only) at the Rizal Mini Theater inside ADMU's campus in Katipunan, Quezon City.

Jake Macapagal ("Victor/Victoria," "A Little Night Music") directs a cast made up of mostly undergraduate students.

Recently seen as revival productions on Broadway and the West End, "Hair" explores the hippie counter-culture movement and sexual revolution in the '60s.  The show's themes that touch on sexuality and drug abuse, disrespect for the American flag, and several nude scenes made the Off Broadway and Broadway productions in the '60s extremely controversial.

James Rado and Gerome Ragni wrote the show's book and lyrics; Galt MacDermot composed the music.

Widely acclaimed as Broadway's first great rock musical -- a legitimate predecessor to "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Evita" and "Rent" -- "Hair" contains some of American musical theatre's most enduring songs like "Let the Sunshine In," "Easy to be Hard," "Good Morning Starshine," "Aquarius," and the title song "Hair".

In Blue Repertory's production of "Hair," Francis Matheu ("Wedding Singer") joins Macapagal as assistant director.  Deo dela Cruz ("Orosman at Zafira") is choreographer; Delphine Buencamino is assistant choreographer; Laura Cabochan ("Walang Sugat") is musical director; Monica Sebial is set designer; and Joseph Matheu ("Little Mermaid" ) is lighting designer.
