Tribe of Fools Kicks Off World Premiere of SHUT YOUR WORMHOLE Tonight

By:

Tribe of Fools is ready to take on the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) with the World Premiere of Shut Your Wormhole. This free, episodic family-friendly piece will run Tuesday-Sunday in The Commonwealth Plaza of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, 300 S. Broad Street at 5:30 p.m. The show runs from tonight, April 4-23, and there will be special showings April 23-26 at 5 p.m.

The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts centers this year on the theme, If you had a time machine where would you go? Tribe of Fools takes that theme one step further. In Shut Your Wormhole, they take a comic journey into a world where time machines are discovered and the discovery of that technology creates a future that causes Jean-Claude Van Damme to become President of the United States. What results is a five-episode comic romp into the ethics and paradoxes of time travel.

In Shut Your Wormhole, Scarlet, a scientist at the University of Pennsylvania invents the first time machine by manipulating wormholes - microscopic tears in the space-time continuum. Within moments of her first successful test she is visited by Karen, a woman from 2062 sent back on a political mission to take control of the zero-hour - the hour the first time machine is operational - in an attempt to control the political landscape of the future. But just as Scarlet is about to decide whether or not to assist Karen, the two are visited by travelers from even further in the future, each of them trying to thwart their predecessors.

Using dance, and slapstick, Tribe of Fools creates a fast-paced, five-part serial that comically explores the paradoxes that are often overlooked when we think about time travel and the ethics that inevitably come along with the technology to change history. The release is below. If you would like more information, photos, or would like to talk to anyone involved, please let me know. I look forward to working with you.
