Opening night of The Traveling Diamonds student film showcase was attended by a standing room only crowd. Attendance was double what had been expected. Thirteen short films ranging in length from five to fifteen minutes were appreciated by all members of the audience. Some favorites included the zombie romance Necropolis, the dark comedy Wholesale, the drama Clara de Faveo, and the thriller, The Hysteric Dynamic.

The next showing of some of finest student film works from Temple University is being presented by Moviate at the Mantis Collective Gallery (1306 N. 3rd St., Harrisburg, PA 17102, 717-576-9508) next Saturday, August 21 to continue the traveling roadshow.

Creative Director and Middletown native Max Einhorn organized The Traveling Diamonds exhibition as a means to promote student work from Temple University. The exhibition will screen roughly a dozen short works from various genres and approaches to filmmaking. Though the showcase is supported by Temple's film department,  it is entirely student organized.

While working with numerous other film students from the university, the roadshow has booked several different venues starting in the Harrisburg area and  will work its way back to the Temple main campus, located in north Philadelphia. The Traveling Diamonds will be teaming up with The Candy Factory, a new creative space and art gallery, to bring a screening to Lancaster during first friday festivities on September 3rd.  Later screenings include The Allen Theatre of Annville on September 18th and a screening on Temple's main campus in early fall to complete the maiden tour.

The exhibition offers participants a chance to branch out beyond Philadelphia and aims to support the film and art scene in local communities, while offering the maximum amount of exposure possible for students. Since the roadshow simply wants to spotlight films and its future creators, admission to the event is free. However, a suggested donation of $10 benefits the film students for future school film projects.

The screening starts at 8 p.M. Sharp. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to meet and mingle with the filmmakers. A discussion with the filmmakers will follow the programming. Seating is limited and may be purchased in advance: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/795290736.  Tickets are also available at the door.
