Theatre Horizon is set to host their second annual Out of Harms Way Event and Forum. The forum is an event that will combine theatre and discussion to address major risk factors affecting the development of local youth -- truancy, easy access to weapons and drugs, police interaction and more.

What: An actor and a bi-lingual actress will present an one-act play, including some Spanish-language moments, that dramatizes the issues parents and youth are facing in Norristown. Following the play, the assembled group - parents, artists, youth, and a panel of experts including the local Chief of Police, will hear suggestions from the audience and discuss ways to make life safer for teens in Norristown.

When: Tonight, March 13, 7 p.m.

Where: Theatre Horizon, 401 Dekalb Street

Why: For the second year in a row, Theatre Horizon is presenting this informative evening designed to reach out to the community and spark dialogue. The evening includes a 40 minute theatrical presentation performed by Akeem Davis and Taysha Canales, who were part of last year's group. Davis created the script. The panel afterward will include the Norristown Chief of Police. This event is designed to bring the community together to help combat the issues that plague teenagers in the town. Partners for the event include: Weed and Seed, Communities that Care, Family Services, and Norristown Men of Excellence.
