The Drama Group will be presenting the Philadelphia area premiere of "Silent Sky" by Lauren Gunderson, directed by Robert Bauer.

When Henrietta Leavitt was recruited by the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s, she was excited by the prospect of having access to one of the largest telescopes in the world, only to learn that the telescope was used exclusively by men. Instead she joined a group of women charting stars for the chief male astronomer who calculated their efforts in "girl hours." In her free time, however, Henrietta continued to study the heavens, drawing conclusions that radically altered the future of astronomy. Brilliant! Illuminating! And true!

The cast of "Silent Sky" includes David DelBianco, Ileana Marie Fortuño, Marjorie Goldman, Carole Mancini, and Lauren Tripolitis.

Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings, March 9 to 24, at 8:00, in Pilling Hall at The First United Methodist Church of Germantown, 6001 Germantown Avenue, between High Street and Walnut Lane.

Tickets for "Silent Sky" are $15.00 ($10.00 for students with ID and Drama Group Members) and can be purchased at the door. On opening night, Friday, March 9, every ticket purchased will admit two people. There will be a post-show discussion following the performance on Friday, March 23.

The Drama Group has been presenting theatre in the Germantown community of Northwest Philadelphia since 1980. For more information about "Silent Sky" and The Drama Group, go to www.thedramagroup.org or "like" The Drama Group on Facebook.
