The Doo Wop Project begins at the beginning, tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. Featuring current and former stars of Broadway's smash hits Jersey Boys and Motown: The Musical, the Doo Wop Project brings its unparalleled sound to the State Theatre on Saturday, July 9.

Show time is 7:30 PM. Tickets are $39/$34 and can be purchased by visiting the State Theatre Box Office, 453 Northampton Street, Easton, by calling 1-800-999-STATE, 610-252-3132 or online at www.statetheatre.org. Sponsored by lehighvalleylive.com and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Throughout the show the Doo Wop Project takes audiences on a journey from foundational tunes of groups like the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, and the Four Seasons all the way to Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Amy Winehouse. The Doo Wop Project brings unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence to recreate-and in some cases entirely re-imagine-some of the greatest music in American pop and rock history.

Earlier this year, Charl Brown completed a two-year run as Smokey Robinson in Motown: The Musical for which he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He is also featured on the Original Broadway Cast recording which was nominated for a Grammy Award. Dominic Scaglione Jr is currently playing the role of Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys on Broadway. He previously played this leading role in the Las Vegas and Chicago companies. Early on in his career, Dominic was a member of the Sony music group called Sygnature and toured with Christina Aguilera and Destiny's Child.

Dominic Nolfi just finished work-shopping a musical version of A Bronx Tale directed by Robert DeNiro and Jerry Zaks. His credits are voluminous including the Original Broadway Cast of both Jersey Boys and Motown: The Musical. Dwayne Cooper got his start singing in a Christian acapella group in his hometown of Florence, SC, but quickly realized that NY was where he needed to be as a vocalist and entertainer. During shows, he's often referred to as a modern day Sammy Davis Jr. meets Barry White. He has performed on Broadway in Motown: The Musical and Hairspray and is also an aspiring songwriter and producer. Russell Fischer grew up in Port Reading, N.J. where pretending his backyard shed was an amphitheater was just the start to an exciting life in the theater. His theatre credentials include Jersey Boys on Broadway and a National Tour of Big -The Musical.
