Star of the Day Announces CHILDREN OF EDEN

Inspired by the Book of Genesis, Children of Eden tells the timeless story of what it means to be a parent. From the moment you bring a child into the world everything changes; you learn to protect, cherish, and love unconditionally. But as they grow you have to learn one more thing; to one day let them go. Featuring one of the most beautiful scores in contemporary musical theatre from the composer of Godspell, Pippin and Wicked, Children of Eden is a heartfelt and humorous musical about the unique family bond.

Children of Eden has Music and Lyrics by acclaimed composer Stephen Schwartz, who is perhaps best known for his mega-hit musical Wicked which continues to play on Broadway and in the West End. Stephen has contributed lyrics to films including Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre and Enchanted, and his other stage musicals include Godspell and Pippin. Schwartz was recently given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.

Starring as Adam and Noah is Jay Fuentes. Jay's journey back to the stage truly is a miracle. One of God's devising.

In Jay's words:

"When I played "Che" in Evita back in 1996, I had no idea it was gonna be my last time on the stage. I LOVED theater, but I became an RN and could never figure out how to fit rehearsals and performances into my 12 hour night shifts (which included weekends and holidays!)

"Twenty-one years later my kidneys decided to fail and adding dialysis to my life did little to promote the idea of ever getting back on stage. But in January, because of a study being done at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania I received not only a new kidney, but a second chance at really living and enjoying life. I learned that life is unpredictable, and if you have dreams you have to go for them while you still can. And one thing that I've been itching to do since 1996 is get back up on that stage. So when Star of the Day announced auditions for Children of Eden, I jumped at the chance, especially since my youngest daughter also said she wanted to try out. I figured if I could work dialysis into my busy life, I'm gonna do whatever it takes to work something I love back into my life! And for some reason, they decided to give me the roles of Adam and Noah. And from the moment I stepped into the rehearsal room, I felt like I was "home" again."

Children of Eden runs Fridays, May 4, 11, 18 at 8pm, Saturdays, May 5,12,19 at 8pm, and Sundays 13 (ASL Interpreted) and 20 at 2pm. Tickets range from $18-$25 and can be purchased online at www.StaroftheDay.org.
