Save The Day Productions signature series, Super Heroes Who Are Super!, delivers word-for-word staged readings of comic books that at once celebrate and parody the soap operatic qualities of classic Marvel and DC comics. Since its inception in 2007 by creator Daniel Student, Super Heroes Who Are Super! has performed to sold out audiences of regular theater goers and comic book aficionados alike at its Philadelphia home, Plays & Players Theatre, including a run in the 2009 Philly Fringe.

Super Heroes Who Are Patriotic! celebrates our nation's independence by honoring its greatest hero... Captain America. Presented in primetime and on the mainstage, this performance of Captain America Comics #1 and The Avengers #4 promises to live up to the cover of the former, where Cap punchs none other than Adolf Hitler. The performance runs approximately one hour and features the comic books brought to life with the best in low budget costumes and special effects, witty word play and absurd physical hijinks alike.

"There is a rawness, an intimacy, and an electricity to these performances," says Mr. Student. "The audience has such an absolute love for the material and the actors playing off their energy highlights what live theater is all about - shared joy. Imagine a Batman, a Superman, or a Wolverine you can reach out and touch - its as ridiculous as it is wonderful."

The performance is July 2 @ 8pm and is directed by Daniel Student. It stars prominent local actors including Mark Cairns as Thor, Liam Castellan as Namor, Chris Morse as Giant Man, Jerry Rudasill as Captain America, and Kristen Schier as The Wasp.

Included with the performance will be a raffle for over $200 in goods from Atomic City Comics on 638 South Street. There will be a special sneak peek performance at Atomic City Comics on June 25 at 9pm. The sneak peek performance is free, no reservations necessary.
