There's nothing like a Gershwin-penned, toe-tapping romp back to the 1930s to put a spring in your step and a smile on your face. And The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater plans to see plenty of bouncy, smiling people this holiday season, as they present Gershwin's classic musical, Crazy For You - opening tonight, November 25th.

This adaptation boasts a zany book by Ken Ludwig about a banker's son who needs a new career-and a new fiancée. The musical features the immortal Gershwin numbers "Nice Work If You Can Get it," "I Got Rhythm," "I Can't Be Bothered Now," "Things Are Looking Up," and the soulful "Someone to Watch over Me." Who could ask for anything more?

Director Brian Walsh of Drexel Hill has cast dozens of talented triple threats (actors who can sing and dance) to bring it all together, including: Stacy Moscotti, Kevin Dietzler, Dave Griffith and Jeff Martin of Drexel Hill; Craig Copas and Richard Gonzales of Philadelphia; Kat Lemon of Springfield; Sherrilynn Carr of Media; Shauna Hodgson Filippone of Wayne; Allison Gerrard of Garnet Valley and others.

In an effort to address hunger in our community, the theater will be conducting a food drive from December 1st - 11th to benefit PhilAbundance. Most people are unaware that seventeen million children in the US live in households that have run short of food in the last year. Children who are hungry are 50% more likely to repeat a grade and twice as likely to require special education services. Since PCS is committed to the health of our community and the education of its children, the club is inviting anyone who wishes to help to bring a non-perishable food item (products that are in boxes, cans or plastic bottles and do not have to be refrigerated) to one of these performances. Audience members who bring a food donation will receive $1.00 off their ticket price; 5 items or more entitles the donor to a half-price ticket.

There will be a community discussion following the matinee performance on Sunday, December 5th. Any ticket holders who wish to do so can remain following the performance and chat with the actors and production staff. In fact, theater lovers who have reservations for a different performance are welcome to come after the show and join in the conversation as well.

Crazy For You runs November 25th-27th, December 1st-4th, 8th-11th, and 15th-17th, with performances Thu-Sat @ 8pm and Sun @ 2pm. The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater is located at 614 Fairview Road in Swarthmore, PA 19081-just off Route 320. The theater is only minutes from I-95 and Route 476, with the R3 Regional Rail line within walking distance, at The Edge of the Swarthmore College campus. The 300-seat Main stage is fully handicapped accessible. The theater makes assisted listening devices available at no charge and offers plenty of free off-street parking.
