June is a time for moving on and this month will be no different for Philly Improv Theater (PHIT). PHIT has been home to Ken Haines' wildly funny live talk show, Why Am I Not Famous?!? With Your Host Kent Haines for one year. This June, will mark the final edition of this PHIT staple. The curtain goes up on Haines' final Philly show Wednesday June 3 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5. Philly Improv Theater shows take place at 407 Bainbridge Street. More information is available online at www.phillyimprovtheater.com or at 267-233-1556.

For his last stand, Haines is welcoming comedian and ace storyteller Gregg Gethard and Powerpoint rap duo Rowan & Hastings in a rare live performance. Haines is about to start Graduate School and has decided to end his run at PHIT.

"Kent has been the only person in Philly doing a live late-night show, and from his very first performance things have always clicked - we were very lucky to find him just before he won Philly Phunniest at Helium last year, and a very sad to see him go," said PHIT Executive Director Greg Maughan. "I've made him promise to come back and host again when he's famous."

PHIT's June line-up also includes a new CAGEMATCH champion going for a second win and two guest appearances by Improv Boston longform team Marjean.

In May, M@& upended longtime defending CAGEMATCH champions, Angry People Building Things, with his longform improv performance that involves a volunteer from the audience who has never performed improv before. M@&, which is Rare Bird Show's Matt Holmes, defends his title against Mr. Lizard on Thursday, June 4th at 10 p.m. Tickets are $5.

Marjean travels to town for two shows on Friday June 5 and Saturday June 6 at 10 p.m. Tickets for each show are $10. Marjean performs with PHIT Resident Group Everything Must Go. Marjean is a Harold team that performs at Improv Boston's Harold Night. The Harold is a long-form show that involves recurring characters and themes.

About Philly Improv Theater

Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) is the only longform improvisation theater in the Metro Philadelphia area. Founded as a nonprofit in 2005, PHIT embraces the art of improvisation as an end rather than a means - creating and producing improv, sketch, and alternate comedy shows in the tradition of theaters like Chicago's Second City and New York's Upright Citizens Brigade. To further this philosophy, PHIT offers it's own take on the theories and concepts behind good improvisation in a full curriculum of classes for performers of all skill levels taught by local talent and through master classes with distinguished performers and teachers from all over the world (including Impro author Keith Johnstone, Joe Bill and Mark Sutton of The Second City, and former SNL writer Ali Farahnakian). In addition to performing as part of PHIT's weeklong residency at The Shubin Theatre each month, local improv troupes produced and presented by PHIT have toured extensively on the East Coast and performed in festivals throughout North America.
