Local actress Micki Sharpe, seen in several performances of "Nunsense" and its various sequels over the years both in Philadephia and in Delaware County, brings the brand's irreverent humor to The Media Theatre this summer in "Nunsense Jamboree".

In this episode with the funny nuns, Sister Mary Amnesia--who regained her memory of wanting to be a country singer in the original "Nunsense"--is headlining a show promoting her debut album. Dan Goggins, who writes all Nunsense scripts, music, and lyrics, says that 'Even if you are not a country music fan, you will love the humor in this theatrical production.'

"Nunsense Jamboree" is total fun with a Laugh-In meets Hee-Haw style of humor. Songs include "Do Unto Others", "We Miss You, Patsy Cline", and "Growing Up In Brooklyn". The famous puppet makes an appearance and there is, of course, a fiddle.

The musical plays August 15 to September 1 at The Media Theatre and is produced by Sharpe Productions. Micki Sharpe directs and will be joined onstage by Trudy Graboyes, Betty Lou Roselle, and Angela Pomo Wertner as well as Media's own Jim Conte as Father Virgil Trott. The music director is Scott Anthony.

Micki Sharpe, who is also emceeing The Media Theatre's "Vocalist Junior" competition this summer, plays Sister Amnesia. She was in the original production of "Nunsense" at Society Hill Playhouse in Philadelphia 25 years ago which ran for four years, winning the Mayor's Award for the longest running musical in Philly history. She toured the show with Edie Adams in regional theatres on the East Coast including The Valley Forge Music Fair.

While playing a nun has taken up a lot of her time, Micki has also performed in many plays and musicals over the past three decades, including the recent production of "Mame" at The Media Theatre which starred Andrea McArdle. She had the pleasure of going on as Vera Charles in several performances of that production, working alongside McArdle in both Media and The Bucks County Playhouse when the show transferred there this past May.

She has been seen at The New Candlelight Theatre, The Hedgerow Theatre, and The Riverfront Theatre.
