Iron Age Theatre is proud to be a part of the BRIDGE-PHL festival running November 2-5 Evenings at 7:30pm and matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. We will be presenting WALK BY THE FIRE by Daniella Vinitski and featuring Richard Bradford and Niya Colbert.

Walk by the Fire is set in the Caribbean during the last night of Carnival. Borrowing from elements of magical realism, the two main characters, Ilife, a hotel housekeeper burned out from a life of commercial servitude, and "Radja," a native fisherman, flirt and spar over philosophy, spirituality, freedom, and what it means to be alive.

Walk by the Fire is concerned with the themes of work and dignity, as well as exploring the generational impact of colonialism on a people and their land. Walk by the Fire first premiered in Philadelphia through a collaborative workshop/reading through the PDC, and was directed by Iron Age artistic director J.H. Doyle. This play was originally revised and developed in the Caribbean, and later workshopped through director/dramaturg and African-American Theatre scholar Deanna Downes at the University of Colorado.
