Historic Bethlehem Partnership is looking to uncover the stories of Bethlehem's past - and it is asking local children for help! HBP is proud to announce the Hunt for History club, an interactive year-long program for children. The club will meet the first Saturday of every month in Historic Bethlehem for crafts, stories, games and fun - all in the name of history.
To kick off its Hunt for History, HBP will host a club event the first two Saturdays in February. Titled "Follow Your Heart," the event will focus on the tradition of giving valentines. Original valentines handcrafted in the 1800s will be on display. Children will be able to craft their own antique valentines to give to their loved ones, while exploring the language of love on a collection of original handcrafted valentines from the 1800s. They will also create a Victorian Valentine Puzzle Purse!
In March, children can see "Irish Eyes Smiling" during the second Hunt for History club event. In true Irish tradition, participants will card wool, spin it into yarn, and weave their very own cloth! Woven wool coverlets from the museum's collection will be on display.
The first events will run from noon to 4pm on Feb. 5, Feb. 12, and March 5 at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts at 427 N. New Street.
The Hunt for History club events are free for children with adult admission to the museum. Crafts and activities are best suited for children aged 4 to 12, but participants of all ages are welcome.
Location and themes for the Hunt for History club events will vary, so please refer to our website www.historicbethlem.org or call the Visitor Center at 610.691.6055. All events will run from noon to 4pm on the first Saturday of the month. The first ten children to arrive on any given Saturday receive a bonus prize.
Every child who attends a Hunt for History club event will receive an official, laminated club card. Each time the child attends, he or she will get a sticker on the back of the card. More stickers equate to prizes and rank within the club.

6+ visits = Investigator
9+ visits = Historian
