The 8-time Tony winning musical "Hairspray", which follows the unique teen Tracy Turnblad in her delightful adventure to integrate Baltimore's Corny Collins Show in 1962, continues through November 4 at The Media Theatre.

Springfield's Victoria Mayo portrays Tracy in the production that features an upbeat message being conveyed through such songs as "Good Morning Baltimore", "You Can't Stop the Beat", and "I Can Hear The Bells". As is the case with each musical at The Media Theatre, the cast is accompanied by a live orchestra conducted by resident music director Tom Fosnocht.

"This is Delaware County's professional premiere of this musical with a message," said Media Theatre's Artistic Director Jesse Cline. "It's a pleasure to see audiences having such a wonderful time enjoying the show."

"It's a terrific show for all ages," Cline continued. "Tracy represents the best in all of us, and is an example of someone who faced many obstacles yet found her own voice, assisting others along the way."

Jennifer Bissell, who has been seen in "Spring Awakening" and "The Who's Tommy", is Penny Pingleton in the production. Philadelphia's Tamara Anderson portrays Motormouth Maybelle, and JP Dunphy is Corny Collins. Others in the cast include Michelle Eugene, Ashli Rian Rice, and Roger Ricker.

The Media Theatre is a member of Actors Equity Association, the Union of professional actors and stage managers based in Manhattan. It is celebrating its twelfth season as a non-profit organization. "We appreciate the support of our subscribers, patrons, and donors," Cline said.

Performances are Wednesdays at 2pm and 7:30pm, Thursdays at 7:30pm, and Fridays at 8pm. Saturdays are at 2pm and 8pm, with Sunday matinees at 3pm. (There is a special $25 Tuesday night performance on Halloween Eve October 30 at 7:30pm. It's a "Costume Night", and patrons are invited to come see the musical in 1960's attire as their favorite celebrity or character from the show.)
