GoKash to Present Tony and Pulitzer Award-Winning FENCES, 7/23
Continuing it's theme of tackling meaty classic African American plays rarely staged by independent African American theatre companies, GoKash Productions is pleased to present the powerful, stunning drama FENCES by August Wilson. It is a work that won Mr. Wilson numerous critical acclaim including the 1987 Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize.
Troy Maxson (Kash Goins), is a strong man, a hard man. He has had to be to survive. He has gone through life in an America where to be proud and black is to face pressures that could crush a man, body and soul. But the1950s are yielding to the new spirit of liberation in the 1960s... a spirit that is changing the world Troy Maxson has learned to deal with the only way he can...a spirit that is making him a stranger, angry and afraid, in a world he never knew and to a wife (Tiffany Bacon) and son he understands less and less... This supremely talented cast is directed by Damien Wallace, and produced by GoKash Productions.
FENCES opens Tuesday, July 23, 2013. The two-week run presents Tuesdays thru Saturdays at 7:30PM and Sundays at 3:30PM thru August 4th. All Shows will be presented at Plays and Players Theatre (mainstage), 1719 Delancey St. Philadelphia, PA 19103.
