Curio Theatre Presents THE TEMPEST, Opening Tonight

By: Apr. 27, 2012

Curio Theatre Company Presents: William Shakespeare's The Tempest, opening tonight, April 27.

This renaissances romance is complete with doe eyed lovers, drunken clowns, political intrigue, and magical spirits. This dreamy revenge play follows Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan, and his daughter Miranda after they have been marooned on an island for twelve years. Prospero finally gets his chance for revenge when a ship carrying his usurpers passes by on it's way to Naples. Using his mystical powers, Prospero traps his oppressors on the island, and confounds them all with spells and spirits.

Paul Kuhn, Curio's Artistic Director, has designed a magical playground for these characters to live in, complete with a rolling ocean, a "run-aground" ship, and a tropical island. Not only that, but in true Curio fashion, this play has a cast of fifteen characters and only seven actors! We're going to need real magic to pull this show off, and we've got it!

So come join us for this magical event! The Tempest, by William Shakespeare runs from April 19th to May 19th. Shows are at 8 o'clock, at Curio Theatre, 4740 Baltimore Avenue.
