Casting Announced for GIRLS NIGHT: THE MUSICAL at the Kimmel Center

Direct from Off-Broadway in New York City, the smash hit stage musical, GIRLS NIGHT: THE MUSICAL, written by Louise Roche and directed by Jack Randle, announced five new cast members, all  with roots in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. GIRLS NIGHT:THE MUSICAL make its Philadelphia premiere at the Kimmel Center's Innovation Studio beginning April 20 through May 23.

 

Tickets for GIRLS NIGHT: THE MUSICAL are $49 and are available at the Kimmel Center box office, Broad & Spruce Sts. (open daily 10 am to 6 pm), by calling 215-731-3333, or online at www.kimmelcenter.org.   Groups discounts of 15 or more are available by calling 215-790-5883.   Performances include:  Tuesday & Saturday evenings at 7:00 pm; Wednesday – Friday evenings at 8:00 pm; matinees Sundays at 3:00 pm.

 

A touching and hilarious 'tell-it-like-it-is' look at the lives of a group of female friends, GIRLS NIGHT: THE MUSICAL is the story of five friends in their 30's and 40's who re-live their past, celebrate their present and look to the future when they meet during a wild and outrageous 'girl's night out' at a karaoke bar.

 

Playing the role of 'Carol' the party girl, will be Alexandra Rush; Blunt 'Anita,' who tells it like it is, will be portrayed by Maya Tepler; 'Liza' with her marital and eating issues is played by Angela Sytko; The role of boring 'Kate' the designated driver is taken on by Regina Ann Duke, and starring as 'Sharon,' the not-so-angelic angel who just couldn't resist tagging along will be Wilma Cespedes-Rivera.

GIRLS NIGHT features a  list of classic female hit anthems  including "It's Raining Men," 'I Will Survive," "Lady Marmalade," "Man I Feel Like A Woman," "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and many more.

 

GIRLS NIGHT is currently playing Off-Broadway to sold-out houses at New York's Downstairs Cabaret Theatre.  The original production earned rave reviews  throughout its tour of  the United Kingdom.  Presented by Entertainment Events, Inc.-- the original tour presenters of  Menopause: The Musical GIRLS NIGHT  has garnered rave reviews from both the American and British press.

 CAST BIOS


WILMA CESPEDES-RIVERA (Sharon) Wilma received her B.A. in Theatre from Muhlenberg College. Her college credits include: Olivia Twelfth Night, Judith The Possibilities and Tara Monkey in the Middle. Her written play Casa de Muñecas was also featured on the Muhlenberg stage. She received two Irene Ryan Acting Award nominations for her work and was awarded the Dorothy and Dexter Baker Foundation Award in the Performing Arts. She has also sung the Puerto Rican National Anthem at Fenway Park. Wilma would like to thank her family for their undying support; the love of her father who she knows is always with her, and God for his constant blessings

 

REGINA ANN DUKE (Kate) an area native from Mt. Laurel, NJ is tickled to be joining the cast of Girls Night!  A graduate of Elizabethtown College, this South Jersey native is a certified Elementary and Special Education teacher, living the dream.  Regina has been found choreographing and performing through college and now in different venues in the tri-state area.  Her favorite experiences have been playing Jeanie in HAIR, and choreographing original dances for High School Musical: On Stage.  She would love to thank her family and friends* for the immense amount of support this year, and especially her ma for all the fabulous dance moves.

 

Alexandra Rush (Carol) a local native from Merion Station/Haverford, PA is elated to be a part of Girls Night: the Musical.  Favorite credits include:  Godspell (Joanne) Plaza Suite (Karen Nash) The Boyfriend  (Madame Dubonet) Grease (Rizzo) Vanities (Joanne)  Fiction a staged reading (Ella)  BTP 2009 Summer showcase (Soloist). Alexandra is a graduate of Idyllwild Arts Academy and proud alum of Broadway Theater Project. She would like to thank her family and her loving fiancé for all of their unconditional support and faith in her.

 

ANGELA SYTKO (Liza) is excited to join the Girls Night family! She is no stranger to five-women feel-good musicals, having played both Red Girl & Green Girl in SHOUT! The Mod Musical. NYC credits include: cabarets at Uncle Charlie's Midtown & the Laurie Beechman Theatre, Two & a Half Women at Don't Tell Mama, The Unusual Suspects (Kitty Rittispittilogs) as part of the NYC Fringe Festival, and a number of readings and performances of new works.  She thanks her family & a muppet.

 

MAYA TEPLER (Anita), is excited to be a part of Girl's Night! She is currently a student at the University of Pennsylvania where she is a proud member of Counterparts A Cappella and Front Row Theatre Company.  Favorite roles include Woman 1 in "Songs for a New World", Ilse in "Spring Awakening", Belle in "Beauty and the Beast", and Rebecca in the Philadelphia premiere of Martin Crimp's "The Country". Maya would like to thank her brilliant teachers, remarkable friends, and incredible family for their constant love and support.
