BLOOD RELATIONS Runs At The Drama Group 3/20-4/4

By:

Lizzie Borden took an axe and... Yes, everyone knows the famous rhyme about Lizzie Borden and her axe. But what is fact and what is fiction? The Drama Group's spring show takes an unexpected look at The Life and legend of Lizzie Borden. "Blood Relations" by Sharon Pollock, plays Friday and Saturday evenings, March 20 to April 4, at 8:00 pm, at The First United Methodist Church of Germantown, 6001 Germantown Avenue.

It's a fact that Lizzie Borden's father and step-mother were brutally murdered on August 4,1892. But did you know Lizzie was tried and acquitted of the murders? Did you know that the murders of Andrew and Abigail Borden were never solved? Did you know that following her trial Lizzie entered into a relationship with a well-known actress of the day? That's all true.

But "Blood Relations" begins ten years after the murders. The actress, while visiting Lizzie at the Borden family home, desperately wants to know what really happened. What will Lizzie tell her? Will it be the truth? Judge for yourself as Lizzie and the actress engage in a game of role-playing. You may be surprised by what you see and what you learn. No bloody axe murders - just fascinating characters, complex relationships and intriguing situations. Did she, or didn't she? You be the judge.

"Blood Relations" is a history lesson, a murder mystery and a portrait of a family breaking down. But, more than that, it's a gripping and immensely entertaining story.

Tickets for "Blood Relations" are $12.00 and can be purchased at the door. On opening night, Friday, March 20, every ticket purchased will admit two people. A post-show discussion will be held following the performance on Friday, March 27.
